Medad moved from Tolland, Connecticut to Norwich, Vermont and later, sometime
between 1744 and 1749, he moved to Royalton, Vermont. He was prominent in the
affairs of the town and was active in the church. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary
War. He seems to have resided in Cooperstown, New York for a time, but returned
to Royalton, and was probably living with his daughter Mary Morse at the time

Connecticut. He was admitted to the church there on September 23, 1716. His

as among its grantees. On February 20, 1719, he deeded some land to his son
Daniel, and on that date resided in Hartford. His will was dated April 4, 1744

for his History of Marshfield: "Willard Benton and Mehitabel Tubbs came
from Connecticut. They first lived on the John Tibbets farm (the house built
by Willard's father, Jonathan). They later moved to (the Benton) farm and lived
in the log house which stood not far from where the present house is but south
and west of it. It is quite probable that (Mehitabel's) parents lived there
before in this log house and the pond was called Tubbs pond because it was on
their land." The pond was later called Mud Pond. Parents:
